Is it OK not to serve food at my wedding reception?

My husband and I will be the only ones eating while people stare at us. We want it to be like when people would watch kings and queens eat in the old days. We feel like it's our wedding day, not theirs. Drinks will be served though but no food for the guests until around 1-2 AM when chips & candy will be served. Is that OK?
